Anna Bon di Venezia was born in Venice in 1738. At the age of 16, she was appointed as Court musician to Frederick, Vice-count of Brandenburg and his wife, Wilhelmine von Bayreuth, a composer herself and a sister of Frederick the Great.

At the time, she composed two works:

·         The « Opera Prima »: six sonatas for the flute (1756)  

·         the « Opera Seconda”: six sonatas for harpsichord. (1757)

Both works are dedicated to Ernestina Augusta Sophia, Princess of Saxony-Weimar. They were published by the widow of Balthasar Schmidt in Nurnberg. Each sonata has three parts: fast-slow-fast, except for the numbers III and VI, having a Minuet i.l.o. the last fast.
